3 Bedroom Floor Plans

Best for Growing Families on a Budget

Three bedroom floor plans are well-suited for growing families who need additional space but may not have the budget for a larger home. A Ranch or Cape Cod style home may have bedrooms and living space all on one level for convenience and family connectivity. Alternatively, choose a two-story home such as a Traditional or Colonial where house plans have bedrooms on the second floor and living space below. The master suite can always be placed on the first floor for privacy.

You may choose to build an open floor plan with the kitchen, dining and living areas easily accessible. This provides an ideal setting for families to gather while cooking or doing homework, and also makes entertaining easy. Or design with a more traditional layout in mind. A separate dining room, living room and den allows for distinct formal and informal rooms. If you often have dinner parties, a dining room with access to the kitchen may be the best solution.

Split Level floor plans are another option that are well-suited to a three bedroom home. Only a few steps separate the different levels, but the separation allows for distinct spaces. Place the living areas and kitchen on the middle level, with one bedroom below and two above. The lower level may have a bonus room or even a second kitchen for guests with extended stays.

Exterior details will set your home apart. Three bedroom homes can be built in any style, so choose architectural elements that fit your design aesthetic and budget. A Ranch home may have simple lines and lack of embellishment, presenting a clean façade, while a Queen Anne might have porches, decorative woodwork and unique windows. Whatever style you choose, you will have a home that is spacious and budget friendly.
